Brumbies sorry for 'unacceptable' drubbing by Canes

27 Apr, 2009 07:57 AM
As the enormity of Saturday night's loss in Wellington continued to set in, the ACT Brumbies apologised to their fans yesterday for their ''unacceptable'' and ''embarrassing'' performance.

The Brumbies returned to Canberra still licking their wounds following their record 56-7 defeat by the Hurricanes in New Zealand.

The team was a bleak unit upon arriving home, still feeling the impact of what was the club's worst result since its inception into Super rugby in 1996.

I have held off my view of the new coach and the sye of game plan wanting to see how it would pan out. Having watched the brumbies for over a decade I cant help but feel that the current direction of play is going the opposite way to the original essence of the Brumbies. Something needs to change.

I say give them a break. The Brumbies won three matches after Shawn Mackay's injury and death. Obviously the raw emotion got them through and that run had to end. It has; let's just hope they can beat the Reds.

To say sorry these days is the easy way out. If you're really sorry prove it. From now on make the breakdown, with numbers and with ferocity..... and Backs, commit to running the ball up to setup phased play, that means you may be tackled. From the sideline, kicking away the ball immediately after the forwards have worked so hard to get it looks like the ‘easy way out’ option. Remember..... you must have the ball in hand to score a Try.
