Brumbies to saddle up for charity pain

14 Nov, 2009 10:22 AM
The ACT Brumbies are hitting the road in the name of charity.

In 10 days' time, the Brumbies will embark on a three-day bike ride from Parliament House to the top of Mt Kosciuszko as part of their pre-season training.

About 25 of the club's players and staff will participate in the challenge, aimed at leading the players out of their comfort zone and seeing how they cope and react.

It will be a two-people-per-bike scenario, where pairs will take it in turns riding stints of between 20km and 40km before having a break and letting their partner take the seat.

Support vehicles will follow the groups with refreshments.

The riders will camp each night with ''sheets of plastic and sleeping bags'', according to coach Andy Friend, supplied by Outward Bound Australia.

Primarily the bike ride is about making money for two organisations OzHarvest Canberra and Outward Bound Australia.
