ACT Brumbies flyhalf Christian Lealiifano is expected to be reprimanded after he failed to front up for compulsory club rugby duties on the weekend.
Brumbies officials have not been able to contact Lealiifano since the club returned from its four-game tour of France on August 9.
The 21-year-old did not fly back to Canberra with the rest of the squad and The Canberra Times understands he decided to visit family in New Zealand.
Despite missing a week of training he was expected to play for the Tuggeranong Vikings against the Queanbeyan Whites last Saturday.
The Brumbies will investigate the uncharacteristic no-show this week.
Brumbies coach Andy Friend decided to give his players a week of active rest at the end of the tour.
That meant no training sessions at Brumbies HQ, however, they were supposed to front for club duties immediately.
Lealiifano injured his shoulder in the Brumbies' last French tour game against Toulon, but was expected to be fit to join the Vikings in their charge to the finals.
Despite not being in contact with the young flyhalf, Brumbies chief executive Andrew Fagan said he knew Lealiifano was in New Zealand and had no immediate concern with his abnormal absence.
''I'm sure there's an appropriate explanation,'' Fagan said yesterday.
