Stephen Hoiles ''has to be there'' when Wallabies coach Robbie Deans announces a 30-man Australian squad today, ACT Brumbies coach Andy Friend says.
Friend yesterday backed his skipper to return to the representative scene after missing out on selection for last year's Tri Nations and Spring Tour.
Hoiles's chances were boosted yesterday when NSW Waratahs No8 Wycliff Palu was ruled out for a month with a broken hand.
Palu will not be considered for selection in the national squad.
