Mark Gerrard hasn't given up hope of a miracle comeback this season but concedes the likelihood of that happening is remote. Gerrard has likely played his last match for the ACT Brumbies after reinjuring his hamstring. The 26-year-old had announced he was leaving the club at the end of the season to join Japanese team NTT Communications.
The Brumbies have two regular season Super14 matches remaining before a possible finals berth, a campaign Gerrard was set to play an influential role in.
But his latest injury setback is expected to sideline him for at least a month, likely robbing him of the chance of a Brumbies farewell match. Gerrard will have scans on the injury tomorrow.
The heartbroken fullback was yesterday distraught at the likelihood his Brumbies days were over, even if he was reluctant to completely accept that fact. ''This weekend was to be my last home game for the Brumbies, something I was very much looking forward to, but I guess that will now go down as the Reds game on the weekend,'' Gerrard told The Canberra Times.
