The region's high schools had their first taste of success in eight years over their private school counterparts on the representative rugby field yesterday.

Combined Secondary Colleges scored five tries in the 25-0 defeat of the Associate Secondary Colleges south team made up of players from Marist College, Canberra Grammar and Radford College at Griffith Oval.

The shield is contested by three teams CSC, ASC south as well as ASC north which features players from St Edmund's College, Daramalan College and Goulburn's Trinity College.

It was the first time a CSC team had beaten an ASC team since 2001 in the annual representative game.
