Julian Huxley says he's ready to end a two-year exile from Super 14 rugby as early as Friday, when the Brumbies head across the Tasman to face the Auckland Blues.
ACT Brumbies Academy coach Darren Coleman, however, isn't so sure.
While amazed at the 30-year-old's seamless comeback for the Brumby Runners yesterday, Coleman believed Huxley needed more match time before being thrust back into the world's toughest provincial competition.
''I'm sure Julian would admit that he needs a game or two to get used to the contact aspect,'' Coleman said.
''He didn't look out of place today, but he just wasn't involved in a lot of tackling.
''So I'd say another run or two would do him the world of good.''
Huxley's rugby career was postponed in 2008 after routine scans following a head knock detected a brain tumour.
The nine-Test Wallaby was cleared on Saturday to play, allowing him to take his place for the Runners against the Junior Waratahs at Sydney's Knox Grammar School.
At the end of 80 minutes Huxley was fatigued, but confident he wouldn't let his teammates down if given a shock call-up for Friday's Eden Park encounter.
''I would've played last night [against the Durban Sharks] if they wanted me to,'' Huxley said.
