Beijing Olympic silver medallist Hayden Stoeckel hopes a move to the Australian Institute of Sport will help resurrect his swimming career.
Stoeckel's career hung in the balance after a serious shoulder injury forced him out of the world championships in Rome earlier this year.
The 25-year-old underwent surgery to remove bone and hopes the move to Canberra will help him recapture the form that saw him claim silver in the 4x100m medley and bronze in the 100m backstroke in Beijing.
Stoeckel will link up with coach John Fowlie and other specialist AIS staff in a bid to extend his career.
''I'm doing a lot of rehab with the shoulder and this is the best place to do it,'' Stoeckel said.
