LIBBY Trickett continued her extraordinary record in Duel in the Pool meets with the second and third-fastest times in women's 100m freestyle history last night.
Trickett is the only swimmer in history to have broken the 53-second mark in the blue-ribbon event and, prior to last night, she had done it on three occasions.
She doubled that tally at the Australian Institute of Sport last night.
Leading out the first leg of the 4x100 mixed relay for the Australian A team against Japan, Trickett was just 0.01sec behind her own world record of 52.88. Then in the 100m women's final she swam 52.95.
In her third and final event of the night, Trickett anchored the final leg of the women's 4x100 relay, again in a time of 52.95, to cap off an extraordinary evening.
Trickett revealed herself to be in dangerously quick form leading into the world championships in Rome in July particularly as she didn't think she would swim that fast.
She used a start she has only practised for a few hours this week. Trickett is one of very few top swimmers who start with both feet flat on the front of the block, but altered it to take advantage of the new ''track start'' blocks at the AIS.
