Rudd sorry for air hostess blast

VIDEO: Rudd's mid-air meltdown apology

Kevin Rudd has apologised to a RAAF cabin stewardess he reportedly reduced to tears on a flight from Port Moresby to Canberra in January.

Mr Rudd did not dispute he had "a discussion" with the stewardess because the meal he wanted was unavailable but he did not remember her being in tears.

"All of us are human, I'm human, I'm not perfect," he said.

"If I upset anybody on that particular flight, I'm sorry, I apologise for it.

"We all make mistakes, your Prime Minister included."

News Ltd reported that on a flight from Port Moresby to Canberra Mr Rudd shouted at a 23-year-old attendant because his request for a special meat-free meal could not be met.

The attendant burst into tears and reported the matter to the senior cabin attendant. She later composed herself and continued with the in-flight service.

Mr Rudd said yesterday he had sought to apologise to the flight attendant at the time.

"I said to the member of staff not to worry about it," he said.

An official incident report was filed by the flight crew.

The report, according to News Ltd, says the cabin crew were unaware of the Prime Minister's special meal request.

There was reportedly another incident in June last year when, during a flight between Sydney and Canberra, Mr Rud became "extremely irritated" when the only food on offer was gourmet sandwiches, rather than a hot meal.

Ashamed indeed, Rudd ought to be ashamed of himself for doing that. He should also do a lot more then just apologize for embarrassing anyone just because she made a minor hiccup. As a retired Air Force member myself, we pledge our alligence to the leaders of our countries with undying question, and we and anyother person deserve to be publicly treated in such a manner. He's lucky it wasn't a US Air Force plane, he would have been ejected:-). If he’s under so much pressure, maybe he ought to take a chill pill before being around other humans.

Doesnt really come as a surprise. He presents as polite and eloquent when, in reality and behind closed doors, he is just an arrogant and self-centred. Unfortunately most of the electorate continue to follow him blindly thinking he is some sort of messiah.

Actually, I can empathise with Kevin on this one. Nothing gets me more annoyed than when all I have for lunch is saladas with vegemite but I feel like 2 minute noodles GODDAMMIT!!!!!!

Isn't this the classic, "I ordered a special meal (meat free, peanut free etc.) for my flight, but still received the standard meal". It's happened to me and I was angry too. I think this really about the stewardess getting a shock from being chastised by the Prime Minister himself than Rudd being rude.

St Kevin let his guard slip and showed his true colours.

I think we need to remember its not the fligh attendat who packs the meals onto the flight. Another case of blame the messenger.

I can empathise with Kevin. It isn't rocket science to provide some decent food options on a RAAF VIP aircraft. I'm sure the cabin staff are not rushed for other things to do. I would guess though it would be the senior cabin attendant who is really responsible. What is their job after all? Not just flying along with the VIP's I would guess. Please spare us from further comments of the sort by all the bleeding heart rightwingers above. Talk about pointless pointscoring (pun intended).

Good on you Kevin. We all make mistakes as we are humans, but only few of us have gutts to accept our mistakes. Some will always see arrogancy being their birth right.
