If you're hunting for a job, you may want to consider moving to Perth's east or even northern Sydney, according to financial institution Bankwest.
The two regions are among 20 zones across the country to record a minimum 5 per cent increase in employment since November 2007.
Using data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Bankwest's report also suggests you are more likely to have found work in the public sector than the real estate business in the past 18 months. Perth east metropolitan and lower northern Sydney have had a 13 per cent growth in employment since November 2007. In comparison, employment grew 11 per cent in south-eastern NSW and 10 per cent in lower western WA.
In the same period, the ACT suburb of Harman recorded a 158 per cent growth in employment in the communications sector.
Bankwest Retail chief executive Ian Corfield said, ''The report showed that while service sector growth corridors tended to be found in major cities, particularly Canberra and Brisbane, the strongest growth in traditional industries like agriculture, mining and manufacturing were in regional areas.''
