Sydney drive-by: a family's lucky escape

24 Mar, 2009 07:03 AM
There was another drive-by shooting in Sydney's west last night, but police could not say whether it was gang related.

A white Nissan Maxima drove along Frances Street, Merryland, about 8.45pm and an occupant of the car fired four shots into a house, police said.

Two adults and three children were inside the house but no one was injured, police said.

A shot was also fired into a four-wheel-drive BMW parked out the front, with a single bullet piercing the back window.

It is believed a young boy was standing next to the car when the shots were fired, while his father was inside the house.

Witnesses described a white vehicle speeding away, police said.

Last night, police from Holroyd Local Area Command and specialist investigators had blocked off the road and were examining the area.

Local police have referred the incident to the Gangs Squad, which is investigating a spate of drive-by shootings in Sydney's west in recent days.

Many of the shootings are believed to be linked to a feud between bikie clubs.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
