Hannant set to play

10 Jun, 2009 01:00 AM
Bulldogs coach Kevin Moore says swine flu victim Ben Hannant will definitely line up in Friday's NRL match against Brisbane.

The Queensland State of Origin player has been in quarantine with his family on the Gold Coast since last Friday, as his illness caused several issues throughout the code.

In Monday night's game between Gold Coast and St George Illawarra, Hannant's Origin teammates Darius Boyd and Ashley Harrison were forced to miss the match.

And the Bulldogs' opponents on Friday, the Broncos, have also been hit hard with several stars forced into a 72-hour quarantine period.

But Moore said he expected Hannant to be fit for Friday night's match against the Broncos.

''I spoke to him yesterday and he's feeling fine, he was probably going to train himself today,'' Moore said yesterday.

''As per the health regulations Benny will meet up with us on Thursday and definitely play on Friday night.''

The Bulldogs have been unaffected by Hannant's illness, with the prop going straight from his Origin duties in Melbourne to Queensland.

The Bulldogs coach said he was more concerned with overcoming a Brisbane side determined to bounce back from last weekend's 48-4 thrashing by Melbourne. AAP
