Hindmarsh out with injury

04 Sep, 2009 01:00 AM
Parramatta forward Nathan Hindmarsh was yesterday ruled out of today's NRL clash with St George Illawarra at WIN Jubilee Stadium.

Hindmarsh failed to overcome a toe injury sustained in last week's emphatic win over Penrith.

The former Test forward was replaced by Broderick Wright, prompting huge changes to the betting markets. A flurry of $30,000 in bets within minutes yesterday forced ACTTAB to make the Dragons favourites in the game.

A win could see the Dragons finish with the minor premiership or in second place, depending on the Bulldogs' clash with Wests Tigers, while a loss leaves them in second or third, depending on the Gold Coast's visit to Manly.

The Eels are also assured a finals place, but their position can be as high as fifth or as low as eighth.

''I don't even think we necessarily have to win,'' Broncos coach Wayne Bennett said yesterday. ''Winning's always nice but if we execute and play well, that's my priority right now [to] get back to what we were doing and get some confidence ... so that we can go into the semis in this wonderful position we're in and capitalise on that.''
