Darren Lockyer's two biggest fans, his mother Sharon and wife Loren, will be in the Newcastle stands when the champion playmaker celebrates his 300th NRL game tomorrow night.
Brisbane will fly both to Newcastle to share the emotion of Lockyer's big day when he becomes only the fifth player in rugby league history to play 300 games for one club.
Brisbane is deep in negotiations with the 31-year-old five-eighth who's played at the club since joining them as a teenager from Roma.
Broncos boss Bruno Cullen said the club would make a special presentation to Lockyer in front of his home fans at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday week following their clash with reigning premiers Manly.
''It will probably be after the game because Locky is not one for doing things before a game,'' Cullen said yesterday.
Cullen said he couldn't think of a more deserving person to be the first to reach 300 NRL games for the Broncos.
''He's stayed with us all the way through and he wants to stay with us even longer which is great,'' Cullen said. AAP
