Off to Flemington A SHOT at group 1 glory at Flemington next month awaits unbeaten three-year-old Fist Of Fury following another dominant win yesterday.

The John O'Shea-trained colt scored on debut at the Kensington track and followed it up with a powerful victory in the Selleys BBQ Tough Wipes Handicap.

"This is some horse," managing part-owner Wasim Gazal said.

"I think John will be targeting him at the Ascot Vale Stakes on Victoria Derby day now.

"He deserves his chance and he should love the open spaces at Flemington."

South African Glyn Schofield was aboard Fist Of Fury yesterday, replacing Hugh Bowman, who was aboard on debut but was riding at Caulfield.

"I really liked the way he knuckled down in the straight," said Schofield. "He is a horse with a big future." 'Beautiful ride' Guy Walter paid tribute to the horsemanship of Rod Quinn after The Astronomer stepped up in class to win the Frantelle Handicap.

"I thought Rod rode him beautifully. The ride won the race," Walter said after the gelding arrived in the last bound to knock out Judge Me Not and Rock Kingdom.

The Astronomer won on debut at Canterbury and, after maintaining his unbeaten run yesterday, Walter is eyeing off bigger races. "He is a horse that can develop into a Guineas horse in the autumn," he said. Five in a row Exciting middle-distance performer Faulconbridge racked up a fifth straight win in yesterday's Franklins Supermarkets Handicap and there seems to be no end in sight to the winning spree.

Tania Rouse, stable foreman for trainer Gai Waterhouse, says: "He can go forward and take up a position and he is strong at the end of his races."

Faulconbridge was ridden by Waterhouse's apprentice Daniel Ganderton.

"It was a wonderful ride by Daniel," Rouse said.
