Despite being overwhelmed with calls, police are still encouraging people to ring them with any information about missing schoolboy Daniil Ivanyuta.
The 16-year-old left his family home in Waverley on Wednesday morning but did not arrive at at school.
It's out of character for Daniil to go astray.
Detective Inspector Ana Loughman said there has been no further progress in their search.
Daniil Ivanyuta, aged 16, has gone missing from his Waverley home.
"It's obviously a very resource-intensive job because we have been getting a lot of information and have been following it all up," she said.
"People are trying to help but unfortunately many of the sightings are not him. We are continuing to search and encourage people to come forward with any information that could help."

his disappearance is being described as out of character.
His mother, Tatiana Ivanyuta, made an impassioned plea at Waverly police station on Thursday.
"Daniil, if you hear me, please come home," she said. "I love you very much and I will always support you.
"Could you please contact me. I need to know you're safe."
The teenager was not wearing his school uniform when he left home and he left behind his mobile phone and wallet.
"It's out of character for Daniil to go astray," Detective Inspector Ana Loughman said.
Daniil is of Russian background and moved to Australia from Japan when he was five. He is an only child and his father is overseas for work.
Police have been searching the eastern suburbs and have issued a state-wide bulletin regarding his disappearance.
Surrounding parklands are being searched and PolAir helicopters have scoured the coastline.
Police have received numerous calls about sightings of Daniil but have failed to locate him.
Police are also in contact with his friends, who are "on high alert" if they do hear from him, Detective Loughman said.
Daniil, who is known to frequent the Bondi Junction area, is described as of Caucasian appearance, 170cm-180 centimetres tall, slim build, short brown hair. He is possibly wearing a grey hooded jumper, denim jeans and blue sneakers.
