A man cried "please, please let me see her face" after the body of a woman was found in a creek behind a Westmead unit block on Wednesday.
Police took two distraught men from a crime scene set up at the Monarco Estate complex a few hours after the woman's body was found.
Wearing muddied shoes, one man fell to his knees as he hugged relatives in heavy rain.

Homicide detectives are working with local police to find out whether the woman's death was suspicious.
Police say the woman, thought to be aged in her 30s, was found by a member of the public about 7.30am.
Detectives are trying to establish whether the woman had been reported missing days earlier.
At midday, police divers continued to scour the muddied creek for possible evidence as a police helicopter hovered overhead.
Officers have cordoned off a large part of the creek and nearby unit block on the corner of Bridge Road and Wentworth Avenue.
They are appealing for anyone with further information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
