A man who allegedly rammed eight cars while trying to evade police in western Sydney traffic is in hospital, police say.

Officers tried to stop a Jaguar sedan at Guildford about 3.20pm on Thursday.

Police allege the car wouldn't stop and they pursued it, with the Jaguar becoming stuck in traffic at Auburn.

The 45-year-old driver is alleged to have reversed and accelerated forward in an attempt to evade police, damaging two police cars and six civilian vehicles in the process.

Two officers broke one of the Jaguar's windows to forcibly remove the driver.

He was arrested and taken to Westmead Hospital.

One of the officers had minor leg injuries after being briefly pinned between two vehicles during the arrest.

Both officers were treated at Auburn Hospital.
