An ex-dermatologist allegedly photographed semi-naked patients at Sydney skin cancer clinics, assuring them the pictures were for "clinical purposes".
NSW Police say the 46-year-old former doctor was extradited to NSW last month following a tip-off from Victorian officers and is now behind bars.
Five women have come forward with allegations of inappropriate behaviour.
It is alleged the man was practising in a Darlinghurst skin cancer clinic in 1999, before relocating to Kogarah in 2000 and 2001.
"It was during the man's consultations with patients that the offences are alleged to have occurred," the NSW State Crime Command said in a statement on Thursday.
"In all five cases, the man allegedly took photos of the women while they were partially naked, assuring the women that the photos were for clinical purposes."
One woman was also assaulted and sexually assaulted, it is alleged, while another was indecently assaulted.
The man has now been charged with 12 aggravated acts of indecency, aggravated sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and assault.
He has been refused bail and is expected to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday.
