Police are asking for help to find him.

Police said Paul Parkinson was involved in a minor crash on Monday afternoon.

Friends and family last heard from him about 6.30pm on Monday.

Mr Parkinson requires regular medication and his disappearance is considered out of character.

His niece, Laura McQuillan, said he had crashed into a parked car a short distance from his house in Blakehurst.

She said he spoke to a witness, who said her uncle appeared to have a speaking disability.

However, Ms McQuillan said her uncle did not have a speech impairment.

"After the crash he called and spoke to a friend and told them that he had crashed into a car and felt like he was deteriorating," Ms McQuillan said.

"He said that he was going to try and walk home, which is about a 15-minute walk."

Ms McQuillan said her uncle had a stroke a few years earlier and she was concerned that a repeat had caused him to crash.

Mr Parkinson's friend alerted police after not hearing from him.

Officers went to his house following the alert, but could not find him.

Police said they located Mr Parkinson's car at a smash repairs a few days after he was reported missing.

Mr Parkinson is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 170 to 177 centimetres tall with a heavy build and receding grey hair. He has a fair complexion, brown eyes and wears glasses. It is not known what he was wearing.

Police said he might appear confused or disorientated.

"He's a quiet, loving guy who everyone adores. We're very concerned for him," Ms McQuillan said.

Anyone who has seen Mr Parkinson, or knows where he is, is urged to call police.
