Hail blankets Malua Bay
Hail at Malua Bay (supplied to the Bay Post by Nick Minato).
Malua Bay on the South Coast resembled a snowfield overnight, as hail blanketed the ground following a heavy storm.
The storm hit the town south of Batemans Bay shortly after 6pm on Monday and temperatures dropped to 3.2C during the night.
Cars went sliding in the icy conditions and motorists were warned to take extra care by authorities.
On Tuesday morning much of Malua Bay remained blanketed in hail, more than 12 hours after the hailstorm swept through the suburb.
The SES reported roof damage and flooding in a number of homes in the area.
Batemans Bay officially recorded 6.8mm of rain on Monday. The hailstorm comes after a week of extreme weather, with temperatures soaring into the 30s on Sunday morning.
