Man threw objects from ute at other cars on highway near Yass, police allege

A man has been throwing objects, in at least one case a can, from his ute at other cars near Yass in recent days, police allege.

In the latest incident, a 25-year-old woman was driving a Honda Civic in a 100km/h zone on the Olympic Highway at Yass about 4.30pm Saturday.

"As she was passing a 4WD utility travelling in the opposite direction, the driver of the utility allegedly threw a can at the Civic, smashing the windscreen. The driver of the utility did not stop," police said in a statement.

"The woman pulled to the side of the highway following the incident and alerted police. She was not injured during the incident."

Later Saturday, police stopped a white Mazda ute in Young and arrested the driver, a 22-year-old man. He has been charged with a number of offences including three counts of intentionally throw object at vehicle and risk safety.

"Police will allege that the man threw objects from his vehicle at vehicles in the Yass area on two further occasions on Wednesday 20 January," police said.
