Man wounded in axe attack

Date

An axe attack has left a Sydney man in hospital with wounds to his head and neck.

Police were called to home at Mascot, in Sydney's south, about 7pm last night following reports of a fight between two men.

A 30-year-old man was taken to St Vincent's Hospital with a number of cuts to his head and neck.

A 32-year-old man was also arrested at the scene and charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He's been refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Bail Court today.

Also overnight in Sydney's west, a young man has stabbed another man with a pair of scissors after he broke a bottle over the victim's head during a neighbour dispute.

Police say a 25-year-old man became involved in a fight with a 37-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman about 6.45pm last night at home in Greystanes.

The younger man pushed the woman to the ground before kicking the older man a number of times.

The offender then grabbed another bottle and broke it over the head of the older man.

He then stabbed the older man in the shoulder with a pair of scissors before fleeing the home.

Police later arrested the younger man before he was taken Westmead Hospital for a cut to his hand.

The older man was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
