A man's body has been recovered by police from Darling Harbour this morning.

Emergency services had responded to reports of a man falling into the water at about 11pm on Friday.

Upon arrival, officers from Sydney City Local Area Command were told two people, who were in the company of the man at the time, entered the water to try and rescue him.

They emerged from the water unharmed.

Officers from the Marine Area Command, Police Rescue and NSW Ambulance helicopter launched an extensive search of the surrounding area.

Police divers recovered the man’s body from the water at about 1.30am on Saturday.

He is believed to be aged in his 30s, although he is yet to be formally identified.

Police are continuing to investigate the matter and are preparing a report with information for the Coroner.
