A police officer has had part of his leg amputated after he was struck by a driver who ploughed through a random breath test site in south-west Sydney on Friday night.

A 22-year-old man has been since been charged over the incident, for alleged dangerous driving while using his mobile phone.
The senior constable was one of two officers seriously injured in the incident.
The highway patrol officers were setting up the breath test site on Campbelltown Road at Leumeah when they were struck about 8.20pm.
The officers, both senior constables, sustained severe leg injuries. They were taken to Liverpool Hospital where they both underwent leg surgery, with one officer having part of one leg amputated.
On Saturday one officer was in a stable condition, while the other was critical but stable.
NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller slammed the actions of the driver at the centre of the horror crash.
"This is the action of a driver that could have taken the life of any community member, but it is aggravated by the fact that two officers were out on a Friday night trying to protect the community from this type of driving behaviour."
Commissioner Fuller acknowledged policers officers that rendered first aid until ambulance officers arrived, applying a tourniquet to the officer with the most serious injuries, which "probably saved his life."
"Thank god we didn't lose a life last night," he said, adding that both officers would have his full support going into the future.
The driver of the vehicle has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and using a mobile phone when not permitted.
His licence was suspended, and he was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy described the incident as a "tragedy" and a "horrific scene."
"A critical incident has been called and will be subject to an investigation and independent review," he said.
The men were not the only police officers to be injured at a random breath test site on Friday evening.
Shortly after 8.30pm two male senior constables suffered injuries at a site on Forest Way, Belrose, on the Northern Beaches, when a 35-year-old man became violent.
The man was driving a Nissan Navara utility when he was directed to pull over at the site, however he allegedly refused to supply a breath sample to police.
The officers placed the man under arrest and while being escorted to the RBT bus, he allegedly swore and became argumentative before violently resisting arrest.
One officer sustained a fractured wrist and the other a groin injury after he was allegedly kicked by the man.
The man was taken to Manly Police Station where multiple charges were laid, including refusing a breath test, causing grievous bodily harm to a police officer and assaulting police.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
