A man has been hospitalised after a taxi driver allegedly knocked him to the ground, ran over his legs and then drove off.
Police say the 27-year-old was seen talking with the cab driver after flagging him down in Double Bay in Sydney's eastern suburbs at just before 3am on Sunday.
Witnesses said the man still had his head inside the cab's window when the driver drove forward, knocking him to the ground.
The taxi then allegedly reversed back, ran over his legs and drove away.
The South African national was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he is being treated for a fractured right foot, cuts and bruising.
