Sydney woman charged over puppy stabbing

A western Sydney woman has been charged over the stabbing of a puppy, which will have to be put down.

Officers were called to a home on Bidwill's Chestnut Crescent just after 2am on Monday to find a five-month-old pit bull terrier named Mason with multiple stab wounds.

The puppy was taken to a vet and is expected to be euthanised on Monday, police say.

A 21-year-old woman arrested at the home has been charged with torturing, beating or seriously injuring an animal, and is due to appear at Mount Druitt Local Court on March 25.
