Tasered after alleged axe threat to police

A man has been Tasered after allegedly threatening police with an axe in Sydney's inner west as they attempted to speak to him about a car crash.

Police said officers had gone to a house in Croydon to speak to the man about 7.40pm on Saturday when he answered the door holding the axe and advanced towards them.

The officers ordered the man to drop the axe and warned he would be Tasered if he did not comply.

When he allegedly ignored their orders, a senior constable discharged his Taser.

The man allegedly resisted officers and a Taser was fired again to subdue him.

The 41-year-old was charged with seven offences including assaulting an officer, resisting an officer and using an offensive weapon to prevent a police investigation.

He was refused bail will appear at Burwood Local Court on February 14.
