Homecoming for our heroes
Golden girls Sally Pearson and Anna Meares could be bringing their million-dollar smiles to Canberra as part of the Olympic Games homecoming tour.
Canberra will host the last of eight parades scheduled for every capital city across the country to take place on Tuesday, August 28.
The public will be able to see the Australian athletes in the flesh during a ceremony in Civic from noon, which will be followed by a function for medallists at Parliament House.
The Australian Olympic Committee has offered to fly all medal-winning athletes to every victory ceremony, while Canberra-based competitors, such as Boomers guard Patty Mills and track stars Melissa Breen and Lauren Boden, will be invited to take part in their home-town event.
Pearson took out the women's 100-metre hurdles, while track cycling star Meares claimed gold in the women's sprint.
There is no confirmation yet as to which athletes will take part in the Canberra home-coming.
The tour kicks-off in Sydney on August 20, continuing to Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart and Perth.
