Walking

London will be Erickson’s second Olympics, and he is keen to erase the disappointment of a disqualification from the 20km walk in Beijing – the only DQ of his career.

Erickson won a bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in his preferred event, the 50km walk. The achievement replicated that of his father, Tim, who won bronze in the walk in 1978.

Erickson moved to Canberra five years ago to join the stable of top racewalkers at the AIS. He’s best recognised by the flame tattoos rising from his feet, which you can look out for as he chases a top-ten finish in the 20km walk in London.
