Smith, at the tender age of 19, is the youngest member of a Kookaburra’s side looking  to make up for a disappointing Beijing tournament where they didn’t progress into the medal rounds.

After completing her schooling in 2010 Crookwell High School, Smith moved to Sydney to train with the NSW Institute of Sport before being moved to Perth to be a part of the national set up.

She has not been part of the squad for 12 months yet but immediately made her presence felt with a goal in just her second international appearance against New Zealand.

The Hockeyroos will be up against it in London after being placed in the ‘Pool of Death’ alongside Argentina, Germany and New Zealand.
