It was always going to be Deputy Opposition Leader Julie Bishop’s week.

In our last instalment we had Tony Abbott revealing her as his new attack option, and attack she did.

From the opening bell, Julie vs Julia was the feature stoush - everything else came a distant second.

Did we have a winner?

The expert pundits had Julie firing blanks, while others had her losing ground. Meanwhile, Julia maintains her status quo. Just plain despair.

The first round offered no clear result, so this week’s espresso video animation presents its own variation.

Australian politics has become the realm of cowboys, cowgirls, cowsteers, and the confused. Of course politicians are capable of having a dubious history. We all have in some way. But pretending in politics that any of them are fine upstanding puritans is just sheer rubbish, fodder for the gullible, naive and stupid. A winner - the Australian public, to see our idiots hard at work.

- I disagree. The public is the loser because Parliament has been made disfunctional by all this nasty adversorial bickering. It is possible to accept personal flaws in our representatives but we need to believe that politicians are working for the common good not personal ambition.

- Annieq, Julie Bishop has made little impression on politics in Australia. She is Abbott's token female, his Stepford Minister, hidden away during election campaigns and rolled out now to slur the Prime Minister, woman-to-woman only in order shield Abbott from being further accused of misogyny. Julie Bishop will best be remembered for her shameful defence of CSR against the claims of those seeking asbestosis compensation! Hardly a class act, that one!

  Clutching at straws? A strange comment on which you will have to expand. By the way, asbestosis claimants rightly consider Julie Bishop a LOW class act.

- Bishop (the elder) showed her class by not meeting or taking phone calls, from an "imbecile" who is "rotten to the core" (as described by his sister just last week), in the last sitting of this years Federal parliament.
  Unfortunately the Representative from W.A., Bishop (the younger), doesn't appear to be in the same class.

- They make quite a pair: po-faced Abbott and his female attack hound Julie Bishop of the unwavering cold fixed stare.
  There must be more than a few voters out there who will be having second thoughts about giving this vindictive and mean spirited pair the reins of government.

Tiresome stuff. At least the Libs have shown they have one strength - muck raking. Hot sludge oozes out of the Libs like a Rotorua mud pool. Ute gate, Slipper, Grech, Thompson, and now Slush gate. You'd think they'd land one of them. Nope. What makes anyone think they'd be any better in Government?
