One of the most beautiful natural wonders of the world I have ever seen, was a sight I could have never imagined when embarking on a 4wd tour from Chile to Bolivia. Laguna Colorada (Red lagoon) is a beautiful shallow salt lake located on the altiplano of Bolivia within the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National reserve. The colour of the water is due to the presence of algae and plankton and is home to a large population of three different varieties of Flamingo's.
