Three people were arrested after weapons and more than $100,000 in cash was found in a car on the Gold Coast yesterday.

Police seized two handgun silencers, rounds of ammunition, four extendable batons, a ballistic vest, capsicum spray, handcuffs, drugs, and the cash from inside the trio’s Holden ute on Broadwater Avenue in Hope Island about 3.30pm on Sunday.

Two men, aged 27 and 23, as well as a 25-year-old woman were in the car at the time.

Police later searched a Molendinar house where they found more drugs and cash, a gun, and another extendable baton.

‘‘Investigations in relation to the source of the weapons are ongoing,’’ a police spokesman said.

Brett John Carmichael, 27, from Hope Island has been charged with possessing dangerous drugs, trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing firearms and possessing a restricted item.

He faced Southport Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody.

The 23-year-old man and 25-year-old woman are being questioned by police.
