The Queensland athlete who crashed the stage at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony said she was just “living in the moment”.
Genevieve Lacaze jumped onstage during Kylie Minogue’s performance and shimmied alongside her backup dancers before being removed by security.
She told 612 ABC radio she had started celebrating her 25th birthday a little too early.

"I just saw the opportunity to get onstage with Kylie, I mean she’s a legend," she said.
“She was in arm’s reach, I thought I’d take the opportunity to jump up with her, but I think I’ve caused a little bit of a stir.”
Some viewers thought Brisbane-based Lacaze was part of the act, but she said she was just getting into the swing of things.
“With the background dancers, I tried to kind of mimic their moves and get involved, as long as I didn’t get in their way,” she said.
“I kind of weaved in between everyone and made it look like I was meant to be there, but if I look at the replay, I’m probably going to be super embarrassed.”
Lacaze said everybody in Glasgow had been very polite during the Games, and the security guards who escorted her offstage were no different.
“They kind of took me off and said ‘Look, you need to go find your country’ and I was like ‘Fair enough’,” she said.
“I scampered off to find Australia again, they were so nice about it.”
The steeplechase competitor doesn’t know if her idol saw her get her groove on.
“I hope so, I love Kylie. I hope she saw me,” she said.
