Police have charged a 27-year-old man with attempted murder over an incident where a 39-year-old man had his throat slashed.

Detectives allege the two men were in a car in Outlook Crescent in Bardon on Tuesday night when the 27-year-old used a knife to cut the victim across the throat.

The alleged attacker then fled the scene.

The victim managed to drive the car a short distance before seeking treatment from paramedics. Police said his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

The alleged attacker will face Brisbane Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder on Thursday.
