A boom gate fault that caused major delays on four Translink train lines on Monday has been fixed, more than two hours after services started becoming affected.

Commuters experienced delays of up to 45 minutes on the Beenleigh, Gold Coast, Ferny Grove and Airport lines after the boom gates became stuck near Bethania Station.

A Translink spokesman said residual delays were easing, but could still be about 30 minutes.

The track fault at Station Road occurred about 6.30am and was fixed by 8.45am.

Police were called to the scene to help manage the traffic flow.

Translink had originally estimated affected passengers would face 30-minute delays, however this was revised to 45 minutes.

It is not known what caused the fault.
