Police are investigating how a woman suffered life-threatening injuries and ended up in a drain at the bottom of a pedestrian bridge in Queensland's north.
It is believed the woman in her mid-30s had been to the Cairns Cup racing carnival on Saturday before she was found near Clarkes Creek on the Bruce Highway about 9.15pm.
She remains in Cairns Hospital in a critical condition.
Detectives would like to speak with anyone who saw the woman wearing a floral dress with a large pink hat and white heeled shoes from 6pm near the Cannon Park Racecourse and the nearby Stockland Shopping Centre.
Police would also like the man who approached officers conducting roadside breath tests on Mulgrave Road last night with information about the woman to contact them again.
