Three people have been taken to hospital after a car ploughed through a Taigum Subway store.

A woman, 68, was attempting to park her car in front of the new store just after 9.30am and seemingly hit the accelerator instead of the brake, according to police.

The four-wheel-drive pushed through the store with enough force to knock over the soft drink machine, which injured a 14-year-old employee. A 50-year-old woman who was walking past was also injured by debris.

A police spokeswoman said the teenager was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with a minor contusion to her rib.  The pedestrian was taken to the same hospital for treatment to a cut to her lower calf, while the driver was taken for observation.

The amount of damage to the Taigum Village store triggered the forensic crash unit to investigate.  The woman’s vehicle has been seized for a mechanic inspection.
