Police confirmed three crime scenes had been declared in relation to the investigation - the house where the body was found, a hotel and a park where the fight was thought to have taken place overnight.

The body of 21-year-old Sam Leschke was found on the back patio of a Mudgeeraba house by his family just before 10am on Saturday.

Investigators cordoned off part of Soma Court and declared the area a crime scene after deciding the man's death was suspicious.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed that detectives had established two further crime scenes at the Wallaby Hotel and adjacent Rotary Park in Mudgeeraba.

Detective Inspector Marc Hogan said investigations suggested the victim was involved in a fight at the hotel about 10.30pm on Friday with a group of seven men.

It is believed the fight spilt out into the adjacent Rotary Park.

After the fight, Inspector Hogan said the victim returned to the Wallaby Hotel with friends and continued drinking before heading home.

Police said the victim drank more at his home before being found dead the following morning.

Inspector Hogan said there were injuries on the body which were consistent with an assault.

Detectives were combing through CCTV vision from the hotel but appealed for the public to come forward with information through Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 131 444.

Investigations were continuing, with homicide detectives from Brisbane assisting.
