Man surrenders after 12-hour Sunshine Coast siege

Date

A man has surrendered to police after a 12-hour siege at a Sunshine Coast resort.

The man, 34, was allegedly armed with knives as he barricaded himself inside a unit at the resort, threatening anyone who tried to enter.

Police were called to the Alexandra Parade resort at 7.20pm on Thursday, following reports the man was being violent and threatening people.

Police SWAT team members surrounded the unit during the siege, as negotiators urged the man to give himself up.

He finally agreed and was taken into police custody at about 7.20am on Friday.

Nobody was injured.
