Police have discovered the body of a jet ski rider missing in waters off Moreton Bay.

Authorities were notified late on Sunday that a jet ski had been found approximately two nautical miles from Redcliffe, northeast of Brisbane, without a rider.

The search effort was doubled to include two helicopters and 15 marine vessels, concentrating on an area 4.3km east of the Redcliffe Jetty.

The search continued overnight with two marine vessels but was suspended at 4am.

A police spokeswoman said the body was spotted in the water about 9.30am on Monday.

It was believed the missing man was a 63-year-old.

A full scale search commenced at 6am, with two helicopters and 15 marine vessels tasked to search waters between the Redcliffe Peninsular and Mud Island.
