Brisbane residents have reported being woken late at night to find a naked man in their homes, police say.

Police are warning residents of New Farm to secure their houses at night after receiving numerous reports about the suspicious man found loitering around homes.

Residents have woken between the hours of 11pm and 5am to find the man inside.

In some instances the man was clothed, but in others he was not, police said.

‘‘In other instances a man has been disturbed attempting to gain entry to a residence or has been seen peering in a window,’’ police said.

Nine such incidents have been reported to police between December 7 and January 8.

The man is described as being Caucasian with very fair skin and of average height.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have noticed someone acting suspiciously in the New Farm area to come forward.

They would also like to hear from anyone who has noticed that items have been disturbed around their home.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au.
