A fire that ripped through a home southwest of Brisbane on Christmas Day has claimed the life of one person and injured two others.

Emergency services were called to the home on Oakmont Avenue, Oxley about 5.40pm on Wednesday.

It is believed the person who died in the fire was the mother of the two injured people, a 16-year-old girl and a young boy.

The injured children were taken to the Royal Children's Hospital.

One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation, a spokesperson for Queensland Ambulance Service said.

Police investigations are continuing.
