Police find Gold Coast murder victim's car

Police have found a car they believe belonged to a man whose badly burnt remains were found in bushland in the Gold Coast hinterland last month.

Detectives appealed to the public for information earlier this week on the maroon-coloured sedan they suspected had been driven by the victim Sultan Alami.

It was confirmed this morning that the car had been located.

The vehicle was found on Ventura Road at Mermaid Beach about 7pm yesterday.

It was examined by forensics officers at the scene, before it was seized for further testing.

Mr Alamri was last seen on the evening of October 6, and his badly burnt corpse was found in bushland at Mount Nimmel Road, Austinville, about midday on October 17.

Police suspect Mr Alami’s murder is linked to a bushfire that was deliberately lit in the same tract of bush in early October.

The 30-year-old Saudi national had been living on the Gold Coast since 2009, police said.
