The Ipswich mother injured in a horrific traffic crash on the Bruce Highway at Kulangoor this week died last night in hospital.

Friends and family of the woman had been praying for her survival.

Tammy Boorer, 28, remained in the intensive care ward at the Nambour General Hospital.

Her husband Nathan was in a stable condition at the Royal Brisbane Hospital last night after he was airlifted there for emergency surgery.

The couple's two children, a nine-year-old boy and five-year-old girl, survived the crash with minor injuries.

Channel Seven reported last night that Mrs Boorer, who was believed to be 30 weeks pregnant, had lost her baby.

The family had been on their way to Hervey Bay for a camping holiday when they were struck by a car travelling the wrong direction on the dual carriageway near the Nambour-Bli Bli exit on Wednesday night.

The children managed to escape the wreckage before the car was hit for a second time by a truck.

  • That is awful. I'm so sad for those children, her husband, and her wider family and friends. It's going to take a lot for this family to function again, and the pain will never leave. I trust they will get all the support they need to endure their pain and live the best lives they can.

  • Just terrible. You know, it's Australia Day, let's forego a beer and if 40,000 people Australia wide - that's not many, donate $2 to this poor father, it won't ease his pain, but it might mean him taking some time off work to help his kids cope without a mum by letting him be home with them 24/7 or pay for his beloved wife's and babies funeral. C'mon Aussies, we're a generous bunch, we look after our mates, so what if we didn't know him personally, he's suffering and were celebrating Australia Day, a day to spend with our mates and be thankful for what we've got - look wot this poor bugger has lost. Give the poor guy even your small change. It will add up to a lot, a lot more than we'll ever need. Please. SMH, can u give us a fund to donate to? Trust me guys, you will forget that couple of bucks but you won't forget helping this poor fella. You'll feel proud....as you should.

    • There has already been a fund set up through the church they attend here in Ipswich. All funds will go directly to Nathan & the kids.
      The details are: BSB 034189,
      Account number: 196363,
Account name: Central Presbyterian Church Ipswich.
      Ref: Boorer fund
Thanks so much for any help you can offer. Nathan won't be working for quite a while when he does get out of hospital. Knowing Nathan, he would be the first guy to help out another bloke in trouble.

  • This is very sad & tragic for the family. My father always said accidents don't happen they are caused. Yet when somebody driving badly kills themselves i always feel relieved ( good riddance is the term i use) because they didn't take innocent lives, yet my friends reel in horror when i make such proclamations. I wonder how they would feel if it was their family.

  • Truely truely awful as is every car crash that cause the deaths of innocents going about their day to day business. I really couldn't cope if this happened to anyone in my family.Sincere good luck to the relatives in trying to repair their shattered lives and on going support for the father and the two little kids.
