Three separate manhunts are under way to locate four escaped criminals whose convictions include murder, dangerous sex offences, armed robbery and drug dealing.

Tony Dwaine Morgan, 33, and Bradley Thomas Kuhl, 34, were reported missing from the low security facility at Etna Creek, near Rockhampton, at 9.15pm on Sunday.

They are also searching for registered sex offender Stewart Dawson in Brisbane and drug dealer Howard Lindsay, who escaped from a work camp in central west Queensland.

Police have urged the public not to approach Morgan and Kuhl, and to call 000 if they have information about their whereabouts.

Morgan is serving a life sentence for the murder of a man in Bundaberg in 1999, while Kuhl was doing time for 2011 armed robbery in Yeppoon and other offences.

The Capricornia Correctional Centre, located 20 kilometres north of Rockhampton, can house 498 male prisoners and has a high security section, but the pair were staying at its low-security farm complex.

“We’re still trying to investigate exactly how they escaped but it appears they have pulled up a section of fencing and got under that way,” Inspector Darrin Shadlow said.

Assistant Commissioner Mike Condon said police had received unconfirmed sightings of the men around Rockhampton, and Kuhl’s family members in Rockhampton and Yeppoon were assisting with inquiries.

Morgan had no known links to the region, he said, and police were contacting his associates in Caboolture, Burpengary and Bundaberg.

“Harbouring an escaped prisoner carries a maximum term of in prison for two years, and  escaping lawful custody, as these individuals have done, carries a maximum sentence of seven years,” Assistant Commissioner Condon said.

A Department of Justice and Attorney-General spokesman said the department was working to ascertain why a convicted murderer was being housed in the low-security centre.

Meanwhile, dangerous sex offender Stewart James Dawson was last seen at a Fortitude Valley residence.

Dawson is being supervised under the Dangerous Prisoners Sexual Offenders Act, meaning he is required to wear a monitoring bracelet at all times. It is not known whether he has removed the device.

The fourth man police are searching for is a convicted drug dealer in his 60s who escaped from a work camp in central west Queensland.

Howard Lindsay, who is serving a seven-year sentence, was reported missing from the Blackall Work Camp.

He is described as 178 centimetres tall, weighing 104 kilograms, with blue eyes and grey hair.

Lindsay was jailed in 2013 after police found him running a cannabis operation with his son north of Mackay.

Morgan, who is serving a life sentence for murder, is described as 180 centimetres tall, weighing 79 kilograms, with blue eyes and blonde hair.

Police said Morgan had a range of tattoos including a lady, gargoyle, circular celtic on his left shoulder; money and money bag on his left wrist; jail tattoos on his left leg; various tattoos on the left side of his back; a circular celtic on his right shoulder; various tattoos on his right leg; and a joker's head and a circular tattoo which says PURITY 100% ANGLO on his chest.

Kuhl is described as 187 centimetres tall, 65 kilograms, with hazel eyes and black hair.

His tattoos include a skull and sword on left shoulder; THOMAS on his left forearm; ALYSSA on his right forearm, BRAD on his right knuckles; redback on his chest; a marijuana leaf and four playing cards on his upper right leg.

Dawson is described as 182 centimetres tall, 84 kilograms, with dark skin, brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone with information about Morgan or Kuhl should contact 000, and for the other men Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
