Qantas 'tail strike' forces mid-air turn around

A Qantas plane was forced to return to Brisbane Airport shortly after take-off after its tail struck the runway on Thursday afternoon.

The plane-load of passengers aboard QF545 bound for Sydney returned to Brisbane Airport shortly after the aircraft took off at 4.30pm.

A Qantas spokeswoman described the incident as a ‘‘very minor tail strike’’.

She said the plane was inspected and had since returned to operations.

No passengers were injured in the incident.
