Like any child, Henry was spoilt when he celebrated his first birthday at Sea World on the Gold Coast on Friday.
But Henry isn’t your normal baby. Henry is just the second polar bear born in Australia, and the first born at Sea World to date.
“When Henry was born he weighed only 600 grams and he was the most gorgeous little bundle of fluff I had ever seen,” Sea World’s Director of Marine Sciences Trevor Long said.

Now, Henry weighs about 125 kilograms and is one-and-a-half metres tall when standing. He currently lives with his mum, and is admired by large crowds daily.
“Every day he melts more hearts and every day more people, particularly the children, fall in love with the polar bears,” Mr Long said.
“The birth was celebrated because of its importance to the International Polar Bear Breeding Program with Henry becoming the latest ambassador for his species in the wild.
“Henry has single handedly raised awareness of Polar bears and how we must do everything we can to protect them.”
Henry’s birthday will be celebrated all weekend at Sea World, where guests can get involved and record birthday messages to Henry and take comedy photos at a special booth at Polar Pre-School.
Henry celebrated his birthday in familiar fashion - with toys, treats, presents and of course a cake.
But his cake was three, sculpted tiers of ice which were decorated with watermelon, food dye and beef fat and stuffed with fish.
